Warm Kids Uniforms for Winter

Winter hasn’t really shown itself here on the eastern seaboard thus far this winter. However, it’s starting to get bitingly cold finally on the day after New Year’s. Ironically, this is the same day that a lot of people are heading back to work and/or school. If you’re sending your child off today, you might have noticed the drastic temperature drop. Kids wearing kids school uniforms are likely shivering waiting for the bus stop. Don’t worry though, here are some tips on how to keep your kids toasty warm during the winter months.

First, make sure your boys school pants are of a heavy material. If this means that they have summer pants and winter pants, so be it. It’s worth it to keep them comfortable. Heavy materials like wool work well but make sure your child can handle it as some sensitive skin finds wool very uncomfortable and itchy. Secondly, make sure your girls school uniforms include a nice heavy pair of leggings. This will ensure that tiny little legs stay warm even on the coldest day.

If you’re doing both of these things and your child is still a little chilly, try looking for a school approved sweater or sweatshirt to bundle up on those cold winter days!

When it comes to buying boys school pants, sometimes you get scared that you’ll buy pants too long or too short. You don’t know which way to go about it and sometimes, you don’t even have a choice. The waist size that works right for your kid may automatically come with a super long or short pant leg. So, you’ll probably have to get the pants hemmed.

When bringing boys school pants for hemming, the best sort of hem to get is having some fabric pinned up, instead of just cut off. That way as your child grows in height, you can just bring down the hem instead of  buying new pants. And that pair that was once too long, now fits great.

You should also be careful not to alter the pants too much that they then don’t adhere to dress guidelines. Though your son may not love the fit overall, it may be that way for a reason, and too much alteration could get him in trouble when his uniform doesn’t look the same as that of other students.

Replacing Kids School Uniforms Mid Year

It’s almost winter break for many schools (if not already!) and that means time for vacation and relaxing for the kids. With the holidays and the new year, there’s a lot of fun to be had as well as a lot to do. This is a great time of year to look into replacing kids school uniforms with pieces they need the most. This downtime can let you have time to order a brand new pair of pants or skirt for your kid if they really need it.

Sometimes things wear out quickly in the first few months, or stains happen that can’t  be removed, or they just hit a growth spurt and now their pants are coming up to their shins. Now is the time to order so you have your new piece by the time school comes back into session, instead of your child having less to wear and having to do more laundry, more often to keep up with how fast they wear what is left.

How to Warm Up Wearing Girls School Skirts

The cold weather is really setting in and sometimes when the kids have to wear uniforms to school, it’s can get pretty chilly, especially for the girls. Girls school skirts can sometimes be not enough on their own. But there are ways to keep their legs warm when traveling to and from school.

First, combining knee highs over tights is a great way to layer. Warmer, cable knit knee highs over a thick pair of tights will keep the lower legs that are usually the most exposed, rather toasty. You can also consider fully leg warmers. Find out with the school if these are ok to wear for the day or if she’ll need to remove them before heading to class.

Another option that many of my friends and I did in high school was changing from pants to skirts. We would wear a pair of pants on the way to school and then change into our skirts in the bathroom before our first classes of the day.

Wool girls school skirts may also be an option, providing a bit more warmth than the lighter cotton counterparts they would wear in the spring and early summer.

Boys will be boys. That saying of so few words, explains so much! Boys just have a habit of loving to rough house and get into all kinds of trouble. Often that trouble includes getting their clothes pretty dirty, especially if they are younger. Keeping them clean shouldn’t be that hard, though. You just need to make sure to tend to stains as soon as they happen, spot cleaning before throwing a shirt or pair of pants in the washing machine. It’ll help break up the stain until he gets home and you can wash it.

You may have been shopping for new girls school uniforms for your daughter for a variety of reasons, whether her old ones are slightly small or just getting worn. But you don’t have to just toss them out, you can use them for your daughter’s Halloween costume! After all, Halloween is just 20 days away and instead of spending money on a new costume for your child, why not just reuse something old?

You can use the school uniform to turn her into an undead student. She can be a zombie or a vampire with ease. Just get some fake blood to put on the shirt and skirt and use pale makeup to create that “haven’t been in daylight for a while” look. You can also use bright red lipstick to create a look of blood around the mouth. You can even find plenty of gory prosthetics to enhance the look. Plus, your daughter will probably have a lot of fun wrecking the old clothes to create a new masterpiece of a costume!

So don’t get rid of the old girls school uniforms just yet, but reuse them for something even your daughter will think is pretty cool this Halloween!

 

Measuring for Boys School Pants

When it comes to measuring for your son and his school uniform, it doesn’t have to be as tough as it seems. You can follow a few simple steps and make sure his boys school pants fit properly no matter what he’s doing, whether sitting in class or running for the bus in the morning.

Before you make any measurements, you want your son to adjust the pair of pants to where he will be wearing them, NOT where you think they should be. You have to be realistic about where they may fall and be comfortable. You should measure around the waist, just below the navel, for an accurate waist measurement. Measuring at this slightly wider point will allow for space for shirts to be tucked in.

For length, measure from the middle of the crotch seam to the bottom of the pants hem. The length should be to about the middle of the shoe, to at least the top of the heel. You can always add an extra inch to account for growing, as kids always are!

Make sure your son’s boys school pants are the right fit and they’ll be perfect for him for at least the semester, hopefully the whole year before he grows too much!
