Our loyal customers may not realize it, but S&D offers more than just kids uniforms and backpacks. We stock a full range of kid-related products. Our stock ranges widely, from designer and name brand jackets and backpacks to economy kids school uniforms, hypoallergenic mattresses and multipurpose strollers. Strollers are one of the products we have featured the least on our blog, and it is time to showcase our extensive stroller selection.

Travel systems are by far some of the most practical and popular strollers available, and we offer several different varieties. A travel system will consist of a car seat and matching stroller. The stroller can be a larger, more durable bassinet style or it can be a lightweight folding stroller. Usually a travel system will have a convenient feature that allows you to attach a car seat directly into a stroller frame, meaning you do not need to move the child around, allowing for a more seamless car experience.

Travel stroller systems have two main features to look for. The first is the type of built-in car seat it comes with. Is the seat meant to face the driver or face the rear of the car? Make sure the stroller you buy offers a seating style that you prefer. The second is weight and folding style. If you have a small car or carry a lot of other stuff around, having a stroller that folds flat is important–not all models do.

JanSport backpacks have been around for a long time, and are among the most iconic pieces of American outdoor gear. The panel loading day pack, which is still sold, (varieties of it are available on sndkids) is one of JanSport’s enduring innovations. In fact, before JanSport came along the only style of backpack that was readily available was a top loading dray string style that had existed for ages.

The 70′s were JanSport’s period of greatest innovation as they pioneered the sort of technical backpacks that have become the norm for outdoor expeditions the world over. The company was borne out of a lightweight, tubular aluminum trekking backpack and flourished from there.  They were among the first manufacturers to use ballistic nylon in their manufacturing and the modern, sporty shapes and designs they created have come to represent what a backpack is, and are a far cry from the paramilitary backpacks of the past.

One of the best features of JanSport backpacks, one that they share with other premier book-bag makers is that JanSport offers a full lifetime warranty. That means that no matter what, JanSport will replace or repair a backpack if it fails in any way. That’s a pretty good deal, especially considering that most of JanSport’s bags retail for less than $50.

North Face Jester

Kids can be endlessly picky.  They hate vegetables, won’t stop watching TV and do not want to be seen with their parents after the age of ten. Fair enough, but when you have to buy these little monsters a new everything every 12 months, the pickiness quickly gets to wear on you. Why not buy them things that they won’t be quickly tired of, like a North Face backpack?  North Face makes many different styles of packpack that are kid-approved and ready for school day adevntures. The North Face Jester model is just one such pack that comes to mind. With it’s large capacity and the technical hiking look of the North Face Jester, it is likely to satisfy tweenaged boys and girls everywhere.

If the North Face Jester doesn’t fit the bill, at least keep a few things in mind when purchasing your child’s backpack. Such as how long will it last? Is this pack well made enough to get your kid at least a couple of years? Also consider fit and how your child is going to wear it. If it sags down below their waist and is full of 30 pounds of books, the pack likely won’t be the most comfortable piece on the market. Consider your child’s health and posture!

Jansport Backpack

Wow, has it been that long. Have Jansport backpacks really been around long enough that our kids are already wearing them? My oh my, how the time does fly. I remember being a little kid back when, well, back when Jansport backpacks were a new and cool thing. The  kind of piece I associated with cool teenagers, teenagers who had flat tops and walk-men. Those were good times, and now your child can proudly wear their super-cool backpack to school, just like you did, just like the big kids.

Jansport backpacks come in a variety of styles, but we all know the iconic one-pocket Superbreak model is the one to get.  As luck would have it, S&D kids carries the superbreak in an array of colors and patterns; from basic black and green to all types of plaid and camoflagues. Whatever your child’s taste’s there’s probably a Jansport bag out there for them.

The added plus of Jansport bags is their price and durability. For less than $40 a Jansport backpack provides a tough 600 denier nylon base material, and several external pockets and pouches that are perfect for storing all the little things that might get lost in the bottom of the pack’s main compartment.

Jansport backpackFashion and style are important to children. They may not view fashion in the exact same way as adults, but they still care about how they look, however it’s sometimes more about how others perceive them as opposed to wearing something because they truly love it. As parents you too want your children to look good and feel confident. I may not be a fashion guru but I can at least attest to the cool styles of Jansport backpacks, especially since I’ve owned no other backpack brand my entire life. And for good reason!

Jansport backpacks have remained a popular choice among children, and even adults, because they are durable and stylish. There’s never an issues about how long the backpack will hold up. The only reasons for a possible upgrade are because the previous one just gets dirty and a little beat up or because you want a new color. Jansport backpacks come in a multitude of colors and patterns. There are dozens of solid colors for those who prefer simplicity. But there are awesome patterns for kids who want to stand out. My own backpack has been dubbed the “Tron” backpack thanks to its black and blue checkered design.

So if your kids want the coolest looking backpacks, look no further than Jansport.

jansport backpackA lot of backpack manufacturers seem to make products that fall into two categories: tiny ones for your five-year-old and one size for everyone else. This can be a bit of a nuisance as your child starts to grow. All their books will definitely not fit in those Hannah Montana backpacks that are about a foot long, but you don’t want them to tip over with a standard size. Kids essentially have to grown into the bag. But what you can do is choose one that isn’t as bulky.

For instance, Jansport backpacks come in a one-zipper bag and the larger, two-zipper bag. The latter is better for teens and up, or people who need a more rugged backpack for traversing the great outdoors. While that one-zipper enclosure may seem just a tad long on your kid’s back, it should still fit comfortably so long as you do not over-stuff it with books and the like. Stick with simpler bags and they’ll make it through the school year just fine. With quality brands like Jansport and the North Face backpacks, they’ll last for years to come and it won’t require frequent replacement.

Check out the cool designs and patterns and find one that’s right for your child.

There have been studies for years and years trying to pinpoint what exactly will give kids the best advantages and opportunities to learn in school. There are comprehensive lists of how to best prepare children for a day of school and the consensus is, good sleep, good nutrition, good tools.

It’s not any secret that a kid will get a better night sleep on a naturepedic mattress, especially if they’re suceptible to allergies. These organic mattresses offer relief from dust mites and other chemical induced allergies that can keep kids up at night. A good nights sleep is only a mattress away.

Most people agree that schools with a dress code that require french toast uniforms contributes to a healthy learning environment. Well, french toast in general is a good idea.  A good, healthy and nutritious breakfast gives kids the energy they need to power through the day. Some schools even have a program that can feed kids early if their parents don’t have the time.

As for the right tools, well you can give your kids that too! Jansport backpacks allow your student to take with them all the books, notebooks, pens, pencils and other items they need for a day of school with them without hurting their backs or posture.

Most kids grumble at the thought of going back to school. The silver lining of the cloud is that they get to go back to school shopping. As depressing as it is for the dog days of summer to end, it’s always fun to go out and get a new Jansport backpack. It’s adolescent retail therapy for the otherwise dread of getting back to school. Besides, a school year with the proper supplies is nothing to fear (or at least that’s you should tell your kids)!

It also gives kids a chance to show off how much they have grown and re-invent themselves for the new school year. Maybe they will get that North Face Jester and become class clown? Or maybe they will stop wearing those messy t-shirts and start wearing school uniform shirts instead. As parents you wonder (anxiously) what surprises this year will hold for you.

The prospect of going back to school is daunting to any youngster; don’t make it worse by sending them unprepared for the first day. Whatever supplies you do get, make sure they are approved by your child’s school. And don’t forget a few words of encouragement on the first day, they mean more than you think!

JanSport backpacks seem like they’ve been around forever.  That’s probably because they were founded way back in 1967, so they’ve been making backpacks for school for generations. With all the kids you see sporting a JanSport, you might think they are the only company that even makes backpacks. That’s just because they are so durable and reliable. I have a JanSport backpack from high school. I’ve had it for about 10 years now and use it every once in a while when I travel or need to pack stuff for an overnight at my Grandmother’s house.  It’s held up all these years perfectly and is really easy to clean by just throwing it in the wash.

What has always been great about JanSport backpacks is the selection. You can get a plain, unassuming black one if that’s your thing, but the kids may love the more colorful patterns.  Guys and girls a like will love them, from elementary school through college. They are that sort of school accessory that just works. Carrying your textbooks to class has never looked cooler. S & D Kids has a whole selection of JanSport backpacks that will be sure to satisfy any kid, any age.

kids school uniformsI remember the first day of school so vividly. The excitement, the crisp canvas Jansport backpacks, the new boys school uniforms, getting to school and seeing the new faces and the faces that you recognize from years past but which you’ve never had classes with, the teacher, the classroom that will become home over the next months, all of it unsettled before routine sets in.
